CLASSES OFFERED BY KUMBHAK YOGA

At Kumbhak Yoga we teach Ayurveda, and HaTha Yoga in a variety of forms and styles, grounded in Ayurveda, Sankhya, and Buddhist philosophy. The word HaTha comes from combining the two Sanskrit terms "Ha" meaning sun and "Tha" meaning moon. When the two are joined HaTha is created, which means forceful.

HaTha Yoga is the mother of many current forms of yoga from Gentle to Restorative, Yin, Heated, Power, Mindful, Vinyasa... At Kumbhak Yoga we offer guidance in the intuitive, contemplative forms, incorporating pranayama (breathwork), asana (poses), dhyana (meditation), and Ayurveda, as tools for balance in our lives.

We teach at yoga studios and health venues, and offer private and semi-private instruction. We also bring yoga into the corporate environment. Call 401-297-9266 for more information, or email Barbara@KumbhakYoga.com.

At Kumbhak Yoga we create classes that further our mission of cultivating calm. To that end we offer these classes at different times:

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Yoga & Meditation: a gentle, contemplative class focusing on asana for meditation and pranayama (breathwork).

Gentle Yoga: focuses on building strength and flexibility through stretching, breathing, relaxing, and practicing asana at a gentle, mindful pace.

Gentle Yoga & Meditation: a class beginning with gentle asana and pranayama to create a state conducive to meditation. Each class explores different meditation techniques.

Yoga Basics: an excellent class for those relatively new to yoga, and for those advanced students who want a stronger foundation. Each class focuses on the details of a different family of asana poses.

New to Yoga: a class for those just beginning the yoga journey. We introduce key elements of yoga, including terminology, philosophy, studio etiquette, and asana (poses), pranayama (breathwork), and dhyana (meditation).

HaTha Yoga: offers pranayama (breathwork), asana (poses), and dhyana (meditation) as tools for Balance, not just on the mat, but off the mat as we live our lives. HaTha Yoga is the mother yoga of many current styles.

Yin/Yang Yoga: based on the Taoist philosophy of uniting opposites, this class encourages the practice of mindful balance and inner contemplation.

Yoga Nidra: Yoga Nidra is also known as Yogic Sleep, or Dynamic Sleep. The practice is both a science and an art form. It is nurturing, healing, calming, and energizing. Yoga Nidra is a unique approach to slowing down and relaxing that is accessible and inviting to people of all traditions. Nothing is required of you – no work, and no effort, just an awake alertness. All you have to do is lie comfortably, and listen. Reaching a state of sweet and safe surrender you have the opportunity to connect with your Self on a profound level.

Ayurvedic Yoga: incorporates the ancient healing wisdom philosophy of Ayurveda. The class defines how the Ayurvedic approach influences yoga practice.

All Levels: a wonderful sadhana (practice) to meet other like-minded yogis. This class encourages you to welcome new challenges and opportunities.

Early Morning Yoga: a sadhana practiced at 6:30am, a beautiful time of day. This class takes the shape of the yogis who show up.

Restorative Yoga: gently eases the body into profound relaxation. Long-held supine yoga poses, abundantly supported with blankets and bolsters, encourage deep release.

Yoga for Strength: cultivating not only physical strength, but strength of heart, mind and soul.

You can bring your awareness to your heart anytime throughout the day to come back to the seat of unconditional love.
