May the sun bring me energy by day.
May the moon softly restore me by night.
May the rain wash away my worries.
May the breeze blow new strength into my being.
May I walk gently through the world,
and know its beauty,
all the days of my life.

A SELECTION OF WORKSHOPS

Wisdom of Yoga in the Garden
Talking to gardeners about the spiritual side of gardening is a bit like preaching to the converted. There is an intelligence in the garden that we often don’t hear because we’re too busy to listen. Yoga and the Gardener explores our spiritual connection to gardening, and the many spiritual gardening traditions. Yoga and the Gardener offers asana designed to hone your body, mind and spirit for gardening, and warm discussion about cultivating the garden, cultivating the spirit, and yoga.

Deepen Your Yoga with Ayurveda
According to Ayurvedic philosophy, life manifests as three energies, known as the doshas. These energies make up the natural world, of which we are a part. The flow of life moves the doshas into and out of balance, affecting our physical health, energy level, spiritual stability, and emotional equilibrium. Ayurvedic practices work to bring the doshas into balance. Discover how Ayurveda supports your yoga practice. Learn an Ayurvedic approach to self-care, that works seamlessly with your yoga practice. Explore the role that food, herbs, and lifestyle play in keeping you vibrantly healthy.

New to Yoga: Beginning the Journey
This workshop is for those who are just starting to explore the world of yoga. Are you always saying to yourself: I'd love to find out about yoga, but..., or, I want to do yoga, but..., then this is the workshop for you. We cover the basics of yoga philosophy, yoga poses, breathwork, and meditation. We explain some common yoga terms, what to expect in a yoga class, and studio etiquette. We also explain some of the many, and sometimes confusing, styles of yoga. New to Yoga is designed to help students feel at home in any yoga studio.

Ayurveda Explained
You will discover the role Ayurveda can play in your life, and how it complements your yoga practice. You will be introduced to the doshas, an Ayurvedic approach to food and herbs, how food and the mind work together, how food affects our emotions, and techniques to cleanse and care for the body both inside and out.

Focus on Pranayama
A workshop focusing on pranayama (breathwork). We incorporate asana and meditation as tools for enhancing the practice of pranayama. Starting with simple techniques such as deep belly breathing, we introduce Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, Bastrika, and more. You will gain a deeper understanding of the breath, and the crucial role it plays in yoga.

As we move deeper into the physical and mystical teachings of yoga, we become intrepid explorers mining the terrain of body, mind and soul. ~ Julie Rappaport
